Montréal’s oldest English-language theatre, Players’ Theatre, put out a call for directors for their first in-person season following the pandemic. I was selected to stage Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage, a hilarious, no-holds-barred show about the breakdown of civility and social norms. Working with a limited budget and short time window, I coordinated all aspects of the show from pre- to post-production, finding efficiencies while maintaining a cohesive artistic vision. Leading a cast and crew of 20 and fostering a creative environment of empathy and trust, the performance sold out its run, received acclaim in local publications, and brought back the spirit of live theatre.
